New Method 29 | Play Games You Can Win

This is your weekly affirmation to help you build your personal philosophy. Have a great weekend!
Take a deep breathe in...and say it with me...
We eradicate the notion that life must always be hard for women. We move towards pleasure, towards ease and towards joy. We don’t feel guilty if we worked for something and got it, even if we didn’t work ‘that hard’. We are totally fine with receiving things because of our mere existence, not because of what we have done in addition to our baseline productivity. We choose paths that are smooth, we curate our lives around our true selves, and we don’t exhaust ourselves. We don’t spend the eternity of our careers outside our comfort zones. We choose games we can win, and if we are focused, we design our own.
Actions
- Define Your Niche Reflect on your strengths and passions to identify a specific area where you can excel. For example, instead of saying “I want to work in media,” narrow it down to “I want to specialise in digital content strategy for beauty brands.” Use platforms like LinkedIn or industry-specific websites to research roles and players in your chosen field.
- Tailor Your Training Build skills directly tied to your chosen game. Enrol in online courses or attend workshops to enhance your expertise. For example, if you’re targeting sustainable fashion, take courses on supply chain management or attend local sustainability events to network.
- Design a Personal Playbook: Write out the key aspects of your game using the prompts in the full essay: What’s the industry? Who are the coaches (mentors)? What’s the ultimate prize? Answer these questions in detail to ensure your path is clear and actionable. For inspiration, watch The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix for how strategy and preparation lead to success.
