Day 2- Product Pack Shots for PR & E-Commerce
Today was a bit of a write-off. I spent the morning driving back from visiting and friend and I was exhausted. Had a bath, had a nap and then started work. Then there was a power cut. I read Plutarch's Biography of Antony for a bit and mooched around in the garden waiting for the power to come back. In the end, I did manage to complete today's tasks, just not as in flow as I would like.
Why bother telling you all of this? So you know that I can appreciate that life gets in the way of your work sometimes. But you just have to keep inching on towards the goal.
It's now 10.00pm and I'm gonna call it a day. Here's what I did for the brand launch:
AI Product Photography Breakdown
I use an AI tool to create 3D Models of all of our products. People keep recommending me prompt tools for products, and I have to explain that this is more than a prompt. So what's the difference?
3D Modelling with AI creates a "digital twin" of your product that you can then manipulate in a virtual photo studio, changing the light, the props, the background etc. It's the equivalent of a Adobe product in that your file is in LAYERS. Scott Belsky talks about this in an a16z podcast on AI and creativity. He believes layers are the future and so do I.
Product Mock Ups with AI use your prompts to create a completely hallucinated version of your product, that just so happens to be close to what you want. It's a single fixed layer, and in order to edit the image, you have to write a completely new prompt or take it to another software like Adobe. This is where you use a tool like ChatGPT or Midjourney or any one of the many amazing tools for this, but it's not my exact product.
After the paywall you'll find the exact 3D Modelling platform I'm using with pricing I'm paying. I'll also show you how I've documented the process for the various stakeholders to understand the way we approach packaging design and print.
