summertime and the living is easy

The more time you spend around the 1%, the more you realise that everyone just disappears for the whole of August. Actualy, this isn’t just a wealthy people thing. It’s more of a cultural thing. People in Europe do not seem to work in August.

A few years ago I decided that I also wouldn’t work in August, and it seemed to go pretty well for a while...

But when you’re a founder, the work never seems to end. I already feel so behind in my work. We still really have no team beyond my co-founder and me, plus some brilliant consultants and contractors. There is so much to do. Right now there is real momentum around 39BC, and as I’ve written previously, it’s important not to let that momentum drop.

So while I typically spend August lounging in the English countryside or eating pasta and drinking wine in Italy, this summer is going to be a little bit different.
