What I Learned From Designing 39BC’s First Men’s Bathing Event
Founders always ask about funding. Lately, they've been asking about guest lists. That tells me something has shifted.
When I started 39BC, I always knew I wanted the brand to hold both masculine and feminine energy.
That was not obvious from the outside. My career has been shaped by women-only spaces, feminist media, beauty, community and the long project of building platforms for women who felt unseen by mainstream culture. For almost twenty years, I have been thinking about women, speaking to women, selling to women and creating rooms where women could gather.
But I knew I wanted men in my brand, and I even asked you all about men about a year ago... (its saved on my highlights if you wana have a look...) so you can see that I've been thinking about men and the brand for a long time and a lot of your responses to these questions showed up in the selection of guests at my event and in the way we took the pictures.
(BTW did you notice ALL of our June content on socials and Insta has been around MEN??)
